Overview

The National Diploma in Business (Level 6) builds on knowledge gained in the Level 5 course, extending a student's depth and breadth of appreciation and understanding of business operations and management processes and systems.

Upon successful completion of this diploma course you will be awarded the National Diploma in Business (Level 6).

Course Name: National Diploma in Business (level 6)
Fee:

NZD $7500 per semester / NZD $1000 materials fee (only payable once)

Entry Criteria:

General entry
Completion of National Diploma in Business (Level 5) or equivalent.
English Language Requirement: IELTS 5.5
Students who do not meet these entry requirements will need to complete the school's entry test prior to enrolment being confirmed.

Mature age entry
20+ years of age and relevant work experience

Start Date: Feb, Apr, Aug and Oct
Course Duration:

One Year (full-time) / Two semesters of 14 weeks each
International Students are required to be enrolled full time and attend classes for 20 hours per week.

Course Structure:

120 NQF credits distributed across 8 papers (4 papers per academic semester see below)

Specialisations

Management / Accounting

Credit transfer:

Credit exemption of up to 40 credits can be granted for selected New Zealand Diploma of Business papers.
Credit may also be granted by recognition of prior learning or current competency.
Student must submit original documentation and may be required to complete a school's challenge test to confirm prior learning.

Certification: You will have to pass all 8 papers (see below) to be awarded the qualification.

  • MGMT516 First Line Managementg


Information of Individual Papers

Each Paper consists of individual unit standards which must be completed before the paper can be credited to the student.

Where the unit standards have the same content as individual papers in the NZ Diploma in Business, they have been given the same number and title. Students entering these papers will be taught these concepts at the same time as student enrolled in the NZ Diploma in Business paper.

Accounting

Student completing this paper will complete unit standards which

Completion of this paper will gain the student 20 credits

Advanced Business Administration

Student completing this paper will complete unit standards which

• Manage administration services
• Coordinate provision of international business administration services

Completion of this paper will gain the student 20 credits

Business & Entrepreneurship

Student completing this paper will complete unit standards which

• Investigate and evaluate small business franchising options
• Manage small business operations
• Manage the development of small business ventures

Completion of this paper will gain the student 20 credits

Human Resource Management

Student completing this paper will complete unit standards which

• Manage equal employment opportunity plans and processes
• Manage plans and processes for determining remuneration levels for jobs, roles, and people

Completion of this paper will gain the student 20 credits

Management

Student completing this paper will complete unit standards which

• Explain and apply principles for making ethical and responsible decisions

Completion of this paper will gain the student 22 credits

Buyer Behaviour

Student completing this paper will complete unit standards which

• Develop and coordinate marketing strategies
• Analyse the impact of buyer behaviour for marketing programmes

Completion of this paper will gain the student 25 credits

Management

Student completing this paper will complete unit standards which

• Develop and strengthen customer relationships and services
• Develop and strengthen supplier relationships

Completion of this paper will gain the student 20 credits

 

 

Recognition of Qualification

The qualification is recognised through formal articulation agreements with selected New Zealand and Australian education providers.

Students who sit at least three papers in their first semester and maintain at least a 'B' average will be eligible to transfer to Massey University and Auckland University of Technology.

If we do not have a formal agreement in place with the university you want to study at, for example an American university, we can enquire on your behalf and help you complete a credit recognition application.

Credit Transfer

It is possible that you may already have studied, or gained other experience, in some of the things that are taught at QAG. In this case, you may be eligible to gain credits through recognition of prior learning or current competency.

Students who wish to have other previous studies considered for credit transfer must submit original documents. Students may also be require dto complete a school's challenge test to confirm prior learning.
